Our mission is to support, promote, and enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning, encourage scholarship of teaching and learning, provide activities and services that help individuals, departments, and programs to identify and achieve their desired level of teaching excellence.
The Center seeks to achieve this mission though one-on-one consultation with faculty members, presenting workshops, seminars and trainings for departments on a variety teaching and learning issues, partnering with other support offices for assistance outside (International Projects) and publicating about university teaching

To accomplish this mission the Center provides consultation, resources, and programs to:

  • Facilitate the professional and intellectual development of faculty, staff, and students as educators.
  • Help instructors and academic units develop, implement, and assess instructional approaches and methods.
  • Foster innovations in university teaching.
  • Help individual instructors assess their teaching effectiveness and their students' learning.
  • Promote student learning as central to accomplishing the teaching/learning mission of the university.
  • Promote leadership development, course design, teaching methods, online education, assessment and evaluation.
  • Develop a mentoring program.
  • Devote to coordinating and facilitating the advancement of teaching and learning.
  • Provide a collection of resources for innovative teaching.
  • Disseminate information to assist faculty in their teaching.
  • Serve as a forum for the exchange of educational concerns.
  • Help faculty evaluate effectiveness in student learning and faculty teaching.
  • Revolve around faculty and their needs for technology assistance to enhance or improve their curriculum.

Staff of the Centre have an advisory role in relation to policy decisions concerned with teaching, learning and assessment. They also provide support for policy developments such as Quality Assurance and Enhancement through the provision of information, expertise and briefing materials.
The Centre for Learning and Teaching works in partnership with academic units, faculty members, and students to enhance the practice and scholarship of learning and teaching at University. Takes an evidence-based approach to advocating for effective learning and teaching practices, curriculum planning, services to support the use of technology in education, and institutional policies and infrastructure to enhance the learning environment.
The Center offers teaching orientation training for new faculty as well as lectures and workshops on teaching and learning issues, and training in the use of technology to enhance teaching. The Center is also in the process of developing a mentoring program.
